What to Expect
The first visit is aimed at discussing and assessing your complaint. The chiropractor will ask you questions about the complaint, as well as general health questions. The history will be followed by a physical examination which involves postural assessment, range of motion testing, orthopaedic testing and a basic neurological screen. After the assessment is complete the chiropractor will discuss the most likely cause of your pain.
In most cases a working diagnosis can be formed and treatment can commence on the same day. However, if further investigation e.g. x-ray is required, a referral will be written and treatment will only begin on the second visit(after results are discussed). The first visit can take up to 45 minutes.
Note: If we do not think we can treat your condition we will tell you immediately. We do not like to mislead people and if a patient presents into our office with a condition which is out of our scope of practice we will refer out to the appropriate specialist to ensure the best care is provided.
The second visit will consist of the report of findings in which the findings from the history and physical exam (and x-ray) will be explained. Any concerns you may have can be discussed and treatment will begin (or continue). This appointment will take up to 20 - 30 minutes.
All appointments thereafter will run for 20 minutes for a regular treatment visit.
